How you learn with Out of the Haze

For school, travel and work: more than 30 languages – from English, French and Spanish to Latin and Ancient Greek, in any combination. Or technical terms with explanations – for biology, medicine or your driving test.

Your own lists

Import words from Excel or CSV. The app detects languages and special characters by itself and shows you a preview first.

Two boxes

Every drawer has a blue box and a red box. Whatever doesn’t stick yet, you practise in the red box.

Practise typing

Type the translation – the app checks it fairly. Everything right twice? Then you get the 🏆 with a certificate, e.g. for your parents.

Ready-made lists

Word lists on everyday topics such as travel, restaurants or numbers & weather – loaded as a new drawer with a single tap.

Pick up where you left off

Progress is saved after every card. Stop whenever you like and continue right there later.

Your data stays with you

No account, no ads, no tracking. Everything is stored on your device and works offline.

One types, everyone learns

Share a drawer as a .haze file – via WhatsApp, email or AirDrop. Only one person in class needs to type or import the words; everyone else adds them with a single tap.

Only the words are shared. Everyone keeps their own progress.

Start for free

Out of the Haze is free. If you want more room for drawers and all ready-made lists, unlock “Pro” – a one-time purchase, no subscription.

Help & FAQ

Can’t find your question? Write to us at support@outofthehaze.app.

How do I get my words into the app?

Create an Excel or CSV file: columns 1 and 2 contain the words, column 3 an optional hint. The first row may name the languages, e.g. “Italian” and “English”. Then tap “+” → Import → Choose file in the app. You’ll also find a ready-made template on the import page.

How do I share a drawer?
  1. Open the drawer and tap “Share drawer (.haze)”.
  2. Choose WhatsApp, email, AirDrop or similar in the share dialog.
  3. The person receiving the file taps it – or picks it in the app under Import → Choose file.

Before adding the words you see a preview and choose whether to create a new drawer or add them to an existing one.

How do the blue and red boxes work?

All words start in the blue box. While learning you decide for every card: “I know it”, “Again” or “red box”. The red box collects the tricky words so you can practise them until they’re allowed back into the blue box.

Where is my data – and what about a new phone?

Everything is stored only on your device. Under Settings → Backup you create a backup file, save it wherever you like and restore it on your new device.

Do I need an account or internet?

No. The app works without an account and without an internet connection.
